Local Tree Surgery Teams Who Know Stockport’s Trees

Stockport is greener than people give it credit for. Victorian planners lined streets in Heaton Moor, Davenport and Edgeley with limes and planes that are now well over a century old, and the inter-war estates of Bramhall, Cheadle Hulme and Hazel Grove were laid out with generous gardens that have matured into cherries, birches, sycamores and the occasional oversized conifer. Down in the Goyt and Tame valleys, older woodland of oak, ash and beech runs right up to garden fences in Marple, Romiley and Reddish Vale.

As Stockport tree surgeons, our teams work in these gardens every week. They understand how a leggy lime responds to a reduction, why ash across the borough needs checking for dieback, and how to rig a dismantle in a terraced back garden where the only access is through the house. Each job is quoted by someone who has looked at the tree, and carried out by an NPTC-qualified, fully insured team working to BS 3998. The larger East Cheshire gardens are covered too, with a tree surgeon in Alderley Edge and Wilmslow alongside, and so are the Heatons (Heaton Moor, Heaton Chapel, Heaton Mersey and Heaton Norris).

★★★★★
Seb and his team were incredible start to finish. Really professional when scoping out the job and talking through options. Communication throughout was great. They were punctual on the day and just got on with the work brilliantly. Tidied up well and left the garden in great condition before leaving. Would 100% recommend and will be using again!

★★★★★
We hired Seb and his team to take down a tree in our garden and shape our overgrown border hedge. They were polite, punctual, and highly professional throughout. They tidied up everything before leaving, to the point that our garden looked like nothing had happened.

[The team] were absolutely phenomenal! Seb and his team were the complete package, professional, punctual, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. They also left everything spotless once the work was complete, it was honestly like they were never there!

Tree Surgery Questions, Answered

How much does a tree surgeon cost in Stockport?

Every tree is different, so we quote each job rather than publish a price list. As a guide, a hedge cut or small ornamental prune usually starts around £150–£250, a crown reduction on a typical garden tree is often £350–£750, and a full dismantle of a large mature tree in a tight back garden can run to £1,000 or more. Stump grinding is normally £80–£200 per stump. The quote covers labour, waste removal and site clean-up, with no add-ons once the team arrives.

Are your tree surgeons qualified and insured?

Yes. All work is carried out by NPTC-certified tree surgeons holding the relevant chainsaw, climbing and aerial rescue units, and every team is covered by £5 million public liability insurance plus employer’s liability. We are happy to send copies of certificates and insurance documents with your quote — always ask any contractor for these before work starts.

Can you work on trees close to my house, fence or neighbour’s garden?

This is most of the work we do. Suburban Stockport gardens rarely have room to fell a tree in one piece, so our teams climb and dismantle in sections, lowering limbs on ropes and rigging so nothing lands on roofs, conservatories, greenhouses or boundary fences. Where the canopy overhangs a neighbour we can help you agree access and leave their side as tidy as yours.

Do you take the waste away?

Yes, unless you ask us not to. Brash is chipped on site and removed, timber is cut and taken away, and lawns and paths are cleared before we leave. If you would like logs for a wood-burner or chippings for beds, tell us and we’ll leave them stacked where you want them. Green waste is recycled rather than sent to landfill.

What if my tree has a Tree Preservation Order or I live in a conservation area?

Protected trees need written consent from the council before they can be pruned or removed, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks’ notice. We don’t submit these applications ourselves, but we’ll flag it if we think your tree may be covered so you can check with the council before booking. Once consent is in place, we carry out exactly what has been approved. Read more about protected trees.

How quickly can you come out?

Quotes are usually arranged within two to three working days, and most jobs are booked in within one to two weeks depending on season. If you’re worried a tree is unsafe, say so when you get in touch and we’ll let the team know.
