What’s the difference between crown thinning and crown reduction?
Thinning takes out branches from inside the crown so it’s less dense; the outline stays the same. Reduction brings the whole outline in, making the tree shorter and narrower.
Will thinning stop my tree dropping leaves on the lawn?
It won’t stop leaf fall, but a thinned tree carries fewer leaves overall and lets more light and air reach the grass, so lawns under it usually recover.
